The Spanish and American Rec and Quarantine franchises have now branched off on entirely separate tracks, but we're happy to report that while Quarantine 2 went its feeble DTV Rabies-on-a-Plane route, Recs 3 and 4 are continuing with their original creative team and levels of madness. Here's a teaser trailer for **Rec 3: Genesis{
Describing the trailer's trajectory would be both redundant and spoilery, so we'll say no more than it starts sedately and then seriously kicks off, and that it's probably not safe for work. There will be blood, and a killer punchline.
Series honchos Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza directed the first two Recs in tandem, but have gone it alone for the next pair, taking one each. Balaguero lannded the yet-to-be-glimpsed threequel Apocalypse, with Plaza therefore behind the megaphone for Genesis, a prequel apparently "opening up" the story by taking it miles from the original location, and using a more "traditional" filmmaking style (it sounds like bits of **Genesis **will still be first-person POV, but as you'll see from the teaser, not all of it). We're promised it'll also function as a "decoder" for the back-story clues dropped in the first two films.
How do we get from this wedding to that attic? All we be revealed sometime next year. The only release date yet set is Spain's on March 30.
