Teaser Poster For Aftershock Arrives

Nicolas Lopez and Eli Roth's earthquake Aftershock played gangbusters on the festival circuit last year, and picked up one of the biggest sales at TIFF. There is, obviously, the potential for all sorts of spectacle in the poster for an earthquake disaster movie... so here's a picture of three dead women in some rubble. Oh well.

That sadly redundant emergency exit sign would seem to indicate that this teaser image is referencing the beginning of the film. The slightly Hostel-sounding set-up sees an American tourist in Chile getting his game on with some beautiful locals in an underground nightclub until the aforementioned tremor ruins his evening. Escaping to the surface turns out to be the least of his problems when he's then faced with the chaos above ground.

The Chilean Lopez is the director, with Roth both producing, co-writing and taking a starring acting role, alongside Ariel Levy (also in Roth's The Green Inferno and sadly not the Ariel Levy who's an excellent feminist journalist and author), Andrea Osvart and Selena Gomez.

"It's a really, really intense film," Roth promised Empire last year. "Once that earthquake hits it just doesn’t stop. The great part about shooting in Chile was we could really destroy things! We got away with things shooting in South America that I never could have done in America. That’s part of the fun of it. You’re watching this stuff happening and a lot of it looks real, because a lot of it is. There’s almost no CG in the movie. What Nicolas pulled off on that budget is pretty incredible. We went crazy!"

Aftershock should be out in the UK later this year. Roth's cannibal holocaust The Green Inferno likewise.
