Darren Lynn Bouseman's numerological horror 11-11-11** has just debuted its first footage online. It doesn't tell you much, but then, teaser trailers never do.
One of those films that seems to have been greenlit due to a cool potential opening date (see The Omen remake, released on 06/06/06), 11-11-11 explains that "The numbers 11 11 have mysteriously appeared to millions all over the world". They're right! It happens on this writer's watch twice a day!
What the trailer doesn't tell you is that all these crazy elevens are leading inexorably to the date later this year when a portal will open and release all kinds of weirdness, including, if we saw it correctly in the clip, an evil Stanna stairlift, and a rather obvious soundbite lifted from Poltergeist.
On the other hand though, 11-11-11 looks to be nicely intense and surreal if the barrage of images in the trailer is anything to go by (Shock point out that it has a bit of the Argentos about it), and director Darren Lynn Bousman's CV so far (three Saws and Repo: The Genetic Opera) boasts some pleasingly creative gore and off-kilter weirdness.
11-11-11 will actually be out on November 10 in the US, but before then, we have Bousman's Mother's Day to look forward to on June 10.
