As well as finally seeing partial justice with a much-deserved Emmy nomination this year, Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany has been in high demand for film roles. She’s now in early negotiations to join Jake Gyllenhaal, who has officially signed on to Boston bombing drama **Stronger.

David Gordon Green is already aboard to direct and will work from John Pollono’s script, itself adapted from survivor Jeff Bauman’s eponymous book, co-written with Bret Witter. Bauman was waiting for his girlfriend at the finish line of the race when two pressure cooker bombs exploded, killing three and injuring more than 260 others, including Bauman. He lost both his legs in the attack. The book chronicles his rebuilding his life through recovery and experiences being a key witness at the trial of surviving bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who was sentenced to death in May after being found guilty on all charges.

Maslany will play the aforementioned girlfriend, Erin Hurley, taking the other major role in the film. With casting now well under way, it seems Stronger will pull well ahead of the various other films about the incident now in development. But the role might well take Maslany out of contention for Star Wars: Episode VIII, the second time she’s been in consideration for the new Star Wars universe after Rogue One. She has two films chugging through post-productions, indies The Other Half and** Two Lovers And A Bear**.
