We already knew that Thor Ragnarok's Taika Waititi is directing at least one episode of Star Wars-based live-action series The Mandalorian. Now the show's executive producer Jon Favreau has revealed that he'll also be providing a voice for one of the characters, and it appears to be Bounty Hunting droid IG-88.
First introduced in a brief scene in The Empire Strikes Back, IG-88 is one of the hunters that Darth Vader dispatches to help find the Millennium Falcon. He's since gone on to inspire plenty of fan chatter, and the Lucasfilm Story Group has expanded his backstory through official materials.
While IG-88 doesn't speak in Empire, it'll be interesting to see what kind of direction Waititi takes him, and whether it'll have much to do with pamphlets{
And don't expect him to be the focus of the show, which will instead chart the exploits of the mysterious, titular warrior (played by Pedro Pascal) in the era between Return Of The Jedi and The Force Awakens. Disney and Lucasfilm have yet to announce when the show will premiere via the new Disney+ streaming service, but we'd expect to learn more details during the show's panel at Star Wars Celebration, to be held next month in Chicago.
