You might think that Thor Ragnarok's Taika Waititi had enough on his plate with the demands on his time as a director and executive producer. But apparently the chance to lark about with Ryan Reynolds on a film set as a performer have lured him to Shawn Levy's Free Guy, alongside Utkarsh Ambudkar.

Free Guy, written by Matt Lieberman (who crafted the original version as a spec script) and Zak Penn, finds Reynolds as a bank teller stuck in his routine who discovers he’s a background character in a brutal open world, action-adventure video game and he is the only one capable of saving everyone around him.

Waititi and Ambudkar's roles have yet to be specified, and they join a cast that already also includes Jodie Comer, Joe Kerry and Lil Rel. Levy's gearing up to direct this one and it'll be out on 3 July next year via Fox. Well, Disney/Fox, or whatever we're supposed to call it now.
