Sympathy For The Devil

Is art imitating life for Lars von Trier? In his film, The Idiots, he had intelligent people act crazy to 'find the inner idiot'. Now, in an effort to explore his somewhat bizarre take on creationism, von Trier is going a bit mad himself and making a film about how, in fact, Satan is the true creator of life, the universe and everything. Now, call us conservative but we think this might not go down all that well. We're sure Mel Gibson will have something to say about it, for starters, not to mention the odd Christian, Jew and Muslim, to name but a few. The film, to be called Antikrist, is not yet written but the plot involves an American biologist coming to believe that nature is a place of evil, causing him to seek therapy (well, you would, wouldn't you?) and thus allowing for a discussion of von Trier's rather out-there hypothesis. Somehow we don't see him asking the Pope for a poster quote.
