In April, Sylvester Stallone took the stage at CinemaCon to announce that he was attached to a new thriller for flourishing mini-studio STX Entertainment. Back then, it was called Godforsaken, but is currently nameless. It does, however, have a director in We Are What We Are's Jim Mickle.

The mystery thriller finds Stallone as an aging former prisoner who has been estranged from his family – particularly his son – for the years that he was in the slammer. But when he hears that his son has died, his quiet and lonely life is shattered as he realises he'll have to protect the family that he has left.

Daniel Casey wrote the script, and Mickle will now look to gather the cast around his star. The director last released Cold In July and is developing The Esperanza Fire, based on John Maclean's novel and true-life tome about a massive wildfire in California.
