Reactions to The Expendables 2 were severely mixed, but Sylvester Stallone is enjoying keeping the fogey fighting franchise alive and has taken to Twitter (as spotted by the team at Collider) to talk Expendables 3. The biggest news is that he’s still trying to score Jackie Chan for the new outing.
But there’s bad news for anyone hoping that Steven Seagal might bring his ponytailed brand of action to the movie – Stallone has shot down the idea.
EX3 needs NEW blood and more humor.... The films were always meant to be more on the humorous side with moments of drama > > — Sylvester Stallone (@TheSlyStallone) [March 13, 2013](https://twitter.com/TheSlyStallone/status/311651931745579008)
Sly is currently busy writing the film, and he’s hoping to expand the cast age range yet again to include, as he puts it, “some young bloods!!! By young I mean 22 to 27. Not big bruisers but tech wizard super brains and a young woman who is not a sex symbol but funny, tough, REAL.” So all you sexy fake robot ladies should ignore the casting notices when they go out.
Expendables 3 is still at an early stage, with no director in place and no firm release plans, though Sly is aiming to get it made this year assuming everyone comes back. Wesley Snipes is, according to Dolph Lundgren, also on Sly’s wish list alongside Jackie Chan, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens on that front.
Stallone will next be seen in The Tomb opposite old pal Arnold Schwarzenegger, which lands in cinemas on September 27. That's followed by boxing comedy Grudge Match, which he's just finished shooting with Robert De Niro, and which should be out next year.
