While he still has Expendables business on his mind – a fourth outing is in the works – it would appear that Sylvester Stallone has other military matters to bring to screens. He's attached to direct and star with Adam Driver in Army memoir adaptation Tough As They Come.

The movie would be taken from Travis Mills' inspirational bestseller, which details his life as one of only five soldiers to survive a quadruple amputation after a battlefield injury. Caught in an IED blast four days before his 25th birthday, Staff Sergeant Mills figured he'd become a statistic dealing with artificial arms and legs. Struggling through rehabilitation, he formed a strong bond with his father-in-law, Craig Buck. Driver, a man with actual military experience himself (though no field time), will be Mills while Stallone is playing Buck.

With 20th Century Fox circling a deal to pick up the rights to the book, it looks as though the studio will be distributing the film if the deal works out.

Stallone has a voice role in Animal Crackers and will appear in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, which arrives in the UK on 28 April. Driver is part of the cast for Martin Scorsese's Silence, on screens now.
