Now we’re just beginning to suspect Merlin has arrived from Arthurian times and cast a charm spell: the number of King Arthur-focused film has being growing steadily in the last few weeks, and now there’s another possibility in contention – Sylvain White’s Pendragon.

Or there will be if he signs. The LA Times is reporting that the **Stomp The Yard **director (who has comic book adaption The Losers arriving this year) is circling Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy’s script, which appears to do for Arthur, Lancelot, Guinevere and co what Star Trek did for Kirk, Spock and the Enterprise crew – offer a sort of origin story.

Fox-based company New Regency has the script and if White signs on, this latest look at Arthur and the knights will be thrust into a development joust with Bryan Singer’s **Excalibur **remake and Guy Ritchie’srumoured involvement in a Warren Ellis-created re-envisioning of the legends.

Just as long as we all remember: Camelot is only a model. (Ssssh!)
