The comedy formerly known as The Baster – can’t think why they changed that title! – and now called The Switch has launched its first trailer into the world.
Starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman, the high concept rom com finds Kassie (Aniston) as a 40-year-old New York singleton desperate to have a baby. Her neurotic best mate Wally (Bateman) is shocked to learn that she doesn’t want him to be the sperm donor, and that she’s chosen instead to impregnate herself with Patrick Wilson’s superior seed.
Drunk at her pregnancy party, Wally spills the precious sample in the bathroom and decides to – you saw this, er, coming, didn’t you? – replace it with his own. Cut to seven years later and Kassie returns to the Big Apple with illness-obsessed moppet Sebastian, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Wally.
Cue Wally and the boy bonding, Kassie hooking up with Patrick Wilson to provide the necessary hitch in Wally’s plan to win her heart and plenty of sideline snark from Jeff Goldblum as Wally’s boss.
It all feels a bit too much like a processed comedy to us, but we have a little faith in Blades Of Glory co-directors Josh Gordon and Will Speck and the solid comedy cast. Go watch the trailer and give us your thoughts.
