You think you’ve seen everything before – and then along comes a film with a one-line pitch that shows that there are stories out there still yet to be told. And Strays, the new film from Barb And Star Go To Vista Del Mar director Josh Greenbaum, is one such story. After delivering a totally out-of-nowhere daffy delight in his comedy with Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo, Greenbaum is next presenting a talking-dog comedy. And this particular talking dog is Will Ferrell’s adorable mutt Reggie. So, what is that one-line pitch, that well-I-haven’t-seen-that-before logline? Here it is: when Reggie is abandoned by his owner Doug (Will Forte), he teams up with a bunch of other strays and plots to bite Doug’s, er, member off. Clean off. Watch the trailer here:

Beyond Ferrell and Forte, Strays features the voices of Jamie Foxx, Isla Fisher and Randall Park, as the pooches helping Reggie on his quest – and giving him lessons in humping, hallucinogens, and hooch along the way. The script is penned by American Vandal writer Dan Perrault, and counts producers including Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and Louis Leterrier. Also among the cast are the likes of Josh Gad, Harvey Guillén, Rob Riggle, Jamie Demetriou, and more. Frankly, our hopes are high for this one – as high as a cabal of canines on magic mushrooms.
