Benderspink, the production-management company run by Chris Bender and JC Spink (no relation to former Aston Villa ‘keeper Nigel, we think), has snapped up the rights to The Straw Men, a crime novel by British writer Michael Marshall Smith.
The first in a trilogy – the other parts are Blood Of Angels and **The Upright Man **– **The Straw Men **follows two groups of characters – an FBI agent and her partner investigating a gruesome serial killer who turns his child victims into sweaters; and a young man who is prying into the disappearance and apparent murder of his own parents – who collide when they stumble upon a massive and chilling criminal conspiracy.
The books have been well-reviewed and come recommended by Stephen King himself, so we have high hopes for the movie version(s). Benderspink has also picked up the rights to the comic book version of the story.
No writer or director is presently attached, but we’ll keep you posted.
