Even given Netflix's recent cull of shows, slapping some favourites with final season orders (bye,Bojack, good luck, GLOW), the idea that the streaming service would let Stranger Things slip through its fingers was unlikely at best. And indeed, the company has now officially announced Stranger Things 4.
With a tag line reading, "We're not in Hawkins anymore", it's clear the show intends to continue the story that began at the end of the third season as Joyce (Winona Ryder) moved her family out of the small Indiana town where the series has been mostly set. Plus there's the dangling thread of what happened to David Harbour's Hopper.
No mention was made of when the show might actually return – Season 3 launched this summer, while the previous two were scheduled for Halloween, so it's up to show creators The Duffer Brothers for now.
Talking of, they've also just signed a big overall deal with Netflix to create other series and movies, so that might be a sign that even Stranger Things will be ending before too long...
