Megan Mullally producing drama

Megan Mullally, who has just spent eight years stealing scenes as Karen on sitcom Will & Grace, is turning producer for Passing Strange.

It’s based on Sally McCleod’s novel about an allegedly ugly woman convinced by her husband’s family to get plastic surgery. But trouble flares when the pair moves to the Carolinas and the wife starts an affair with their yardman.

McLeod apparently based the book on elements from her real life – though more the living in North Carolina and time spent as a model part. At least, we think so. Mullally has hired VFX expert Martin Garner (Hulk, Solaris), who is launching his next career as a writer, to adapt the book.
