The remake of Mel Brooks’ TV spy comedy Get Smart might finally be emerging from the depths of Development Hell.
Peter Segal, who directed Adam Sandler in The Longest Yard, has agreed to handle the cinematic version.
Steve Carrell is currently attached to star as Agent 86, who works for the US government agency CONTROL against evildoers KAOS. Don Adams starred in the original show, which saw 86 – AKA Maxwell Smart bungle his way through missions.
Tom Astle and Matt Ember have just re-written the script, which has CONTROL falling on hard times in the face of government cutbacks.
