Steven Spielberg’s The Post Scores Big With The National Board Of Review

Steven Spielberg's The Post

It's far from the best indicator for how the Oscar vote will go, but the US National Board of Review gave a big early push to Steven Spielberg's latest film, The Post.

The movie, which opens in December in the US and January in the UK, scored Best Film and Best Actor and Actress for stars Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep. Yet there was room for plenty of other films to land gongs, with Get Out's Jordan Peele winning Best Directorial Debut (while the movie took Best Ensemble), Greta Gerwig won Best Director (and Laurie Metcalf was named Best Supporting Actress) for Lady Bird.

Paul Thomas Anderson's Phantom Thread nabbed Best Original Screenplay, while the adaptation award went to The Disaster Artist's Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber. There was also a much-deserved spotlight award for Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins and its star Gal Gadot.
