With Viggo Mortensen aboard in the lead, comedy-drama Captain Fantastic is upping both the comedy and the drama quotient by adding a few more cast members. Steve Zahn, Kathryn Hahn, Missy Pyle and Erin Moriarty are all set to head to New Mexico and Washington state to work on the film.
Actor-turned-writer/director Matt Ross is behind the indie film, which boasts a leading role that would appear well suited to Mortensen’s ease in the wilderness. Captain Fantastic follows an idealistic father who has to end a decade living off the grid with his six kids in the forests of America’s Pacific Northwest and assimilate the family back into society. It sounds a little like a reverse version of 1986 Harrison Ford drama The Mosquito Coast, though with fewer actual mosquitos.
There’s no indication yet of what roles the new additions will be filling. Zahn was last seen in **Dallas Buyers Club **and long-delayed fantasy comedy Knights Of Badassdom. Hahn appeared in Bad Words and has various projects including This Is Where I Leave You and Tomorrowland headed to cinemas. Pyle has worked on Gone Girl and **Uncle Nick **and will be in the new US TV comedy Whole Day Down. Moriarty, meanwhile, was last seen in The Kings Of Summer and will show up in horror thriller Crawlspace.
