Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan in The Trip

After two culinary comedy excursions on the Beeb and the big screen, Steve Coogan, Rob Brydon and Michael Winterbotttom's The Trip is headed to pastures new: Spain and Sky Atlantic.

The new series – there's no word on whether it'll be turned into a film yet – will once again follow the leads' fictionalised characters as they banter, squabble and chew over all manner of topics while sampling a wealth of different dishes. This one will see them head off on a road trip from the North Atlantic to the Mediterranean coast for a fresh helping of gastronomic adventures.

“Having thought long and hard about yet another sojourn into culinary distractions and middle age, I have reluctantly agreed to Eviva Espana," says Coogan. "I have a hole in my diary, there will be free food and accommodation and Rob Brydon is surprisingly good company. I also like Michael.” And as for Winterbottom? "It has been more than three years since the last Trip, and travelling with Rob and Steve is always enjoyable – so it seemed like a good idea to go on another journey together – before they get too old."

The cameras will roll later this year. We'd bet good money on one or two impressions being rolled out, too.
