Scheduling issues meant that Elizabeth Banks couldn't direct Pitch Perfect 3, and the new movie has been floating around without someone in the chair for a while. But Universal has now tracked down the person it wants: Step Up All In director Trish Sie.
Banks, of course, is still heavily involved in the film, acting as producer and returning to the role of singing competition announcer Gail. The film will see Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow all back performing again, though no details of the plot have emerged as of yet. Kay Cannon is once more on script duty, though Mike White stepped in to write an earlier draft of this third outing for the franchise.
Universal shifted the third film's release date back to December 2017 after learning that Banks couldn't direct the new one, but with Sie on board, the shoot should be able to go ahead on schedule. She's got experience shooting performance: in addition to the latest Step Up, she's worked on music videos for the likes of OK Go and more.
