Better tie on your brightly coloured vintage trainers, don a form-fitting vest top and get your freak on, because there's a fourth instalment in the Step Up franchise headed our way. Brace yourselves (possibly while performing some sort of spin on your head) for Step Up 4Ever hitting screens in 2012.
The last entry in the series, of course, followed the by-now traditional formula of having a poor(ish) and rich kid fall in love while preparing for a big dance competition, but varied slightly from what we've seen before by having almost no crossover between ballroom / ballet and street dance, leaving aside such tribal rivalries in favour of having LOTS of things POP out of the screen at us. Since Step Up 4Ever is also in 3D, expect it to also POP.
Which of the cast will return? It's anyone's guess, since there's generally been only one or two crossovers between any of the casts to date (keeping costs even lower than they already are on these films). We'd imagine, however, that director Jon Chu, who's handled the last two films and recently worked on the upcoming Justin Bieber biopic, god help us, will at least be in discussions to return.
In the meantime, if all this locking and body-popping is Greek to you, we have a handy guide to dance movies right this way.
