Fans of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas may be glad to hear that a real, actual Welsh person has joined the central cast of The Best Time of our Lives, the story of the poet's involvement in a love triangle that included his wife, and his wife's best friend (the sly dog!)
Yes, Cardiff-born Matthew Rhys has signed on as the man himself. The ladies in his life will be played by the unlikley pairing of Lindsay Lohan, as his wife Caitlin MacNamara, and Keira Knightley as Vera Phillips, with Cillian Murphy playing her husband, who eventually tried to machine-gun Thomas' house. Apparently the whole thing also has "lesbian undertones", so expect something a little more bombastic than Under Milk Wood.
Filming is due to start in May in Wales, which should allow some of the cast a welcome break from the paparazzi, with The Jacket director John Maybury behind the camera from a script by Sharman 'Keira's-mum' Macdonald.
It's impossible to know what to make of this yet - it could be an intelligent and measured look at a love triangle involving a great artist and two feisty women, given the presence of Maybury, or it could be an improbably good looking slice of soap opera involving the odd bit of verse, given the cast.
Probably the most important thing to hope for, however, is that Cillian Murphy's scary eyes don't accidentally burn a hole in Keira Knightley's stick-thin frame, and that Lindsay Lohan doesn't take her research into Thomas' hard-drinking lifestyle a bit too far.
