His name might not be in the main directorial credits for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but it's hardly a secret how much of an impact Tony Gilroy had on the film, writing new script material and helping extensively with reshoots on the movie. It's perhaps not shocking, then, to learn that he'll be part of the team crafting the Disney+ series that will act as prequel to it.
Diego Luna is back as Cassian Andor, the Rebel agent who is not above crossing moral boundaries to complete his mission, and he'll be joined by sarcastic sidekick droid K-2SO (Alan Tudyk, once again ready to slip into performance capture gear).
Stephen Schiff is on board to be the showrunner of the series (currently without an official title), while Gilroy has been brought in to write the pilot and direct multiple episodes, so he'll have a big impact on the show going forward.
The show will apparently kick off filming next year and there is talk of a 2021 launch.
