While Frozen 2 and Onward have received early Disney+ launches in some territories, that sadly hasn’t been the case for UK members. But now, we’re about to get a major movie on the service much earlier than expected – mere weeks after its digital and physical release, Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker is going to be available on Disney’s streaming service. The final film in the Skywalker Saga, wrapping up the stories of Rey, Kylo Ren, Finn and the gang, will be dropping on Disney+ on May the 4th in celebration of Star Wars Day, two months earlier than initially expected.
UPDATE: And here's a spine-tingling new trailer spanning all three eras of the Skywalker Saga to celebrate the nine-film series streaming in full:
It’s just one of the exciting things Disney+ has planned for the day – May the 4th will also see the launch of Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, a behind-the-scenes series exploring the making of the first live-action Star Wars TV series, featuring new interviews and roundtables with its starry directors (Jon Favreau, Taika Waititi and Bryce Dallas Howard among them) and central cast. It will also bring the final ever episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, ominously titled ‘Victory and Death’, bringing Dave Filoni’s celebrated animated series to a close.
That means if you were planning a big re-watch of the complete saga (plus the Star Wars Story films), you can access every Star Wars movie on Disney+ as of next Monday. Elsewhere, you’ll have to wait until 17 July for Frozen 2 to arrive, while it’s currently unknown when Onward will hit Disney+ in the UK.
