The cameras have already been rolling on new live-action Star Wars spin-off series The Mandalorian, but we're only now learning who will be filling the armour on the show. And it's someone who has been rumoured for a while: Pedro Pascal.
According to Variety, the Game Of Thrones and Narcos actor had been one of those under consideration and is now negotiating to take the lead. Which is a little surprising, since we've already seen images of someone in the armour. Perhaps it's the Mandalorian's brother, Steve Mandalorian.
The Mandalorian, which is due to premiere on the new Disney streaming service known as Disney+, has an official synopsis out in the galaxy already, albeit one that leaves plenty of details still to come. "After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerged in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic...."
Jon Favreau is in overall charge of the show, with Clone Wars and Rebels veteran Dave Filoni directing the first episode. Other directors of the eight-episode first season include Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa and Deborah Chow.
There's no exact date for the show to premiere, but we can expect it next year. Pascal has a few films on the way, including If Beale Street Could Talk and Triple Frontier.
