Star Wars: The Force Awakens will hit 3D Blu-ray with more extras

Despite all the ballyhoo about the extras-crammed home entertainment releases for Star Wars: The Force Awakens back in April, there was still a small note hidden in the PR text about a 3D version. Now we know that that latest release, including new extras such as a J.J. Abrams director's commentary, will be out in the autumn. The launch video is below.

The four-disc set, at least the one arriving in Holland, Australia, Sweden, Brazil, Italy, Germany, Spain and the US appears to contain the same special features as in the previous release plus new deleted scenes, a couple of documentaries about sound design and foley work, costume design, weaponry, new conversations between Daisy Ridley and John Boyega and of course that Abrams commentary. There is a caution buried in the official listing that not all features will appear in all territories, so take that as you will.

It's a four-disc set covering the Blu-ray 3D, regular Blu-ray, Digital HD and DVD, and we wouldn't be shocked if you could add water and have another format expand in front of your eyes.
