In less than a year, we’ll know how the Star Wars sequel trilogy will end. Episode IX is not so far, far away, and while we’re all waiting to see how it all wraps up, series stalwart Anthony Daniels has shared his own farewell to the latest Skywalker story. The series stalwart, who’s portrayed C-3PO in every instalment of the saga, has wrapped on the Last Jedi sequel, sharing an emotional message on Twitter.

Anthony Daniels – Star Wars tweet

“Today was 3PO's last on Episode IX,” he wrote. “He's sad - so am I. But we're so proud to have worked with such a lovely, talented cast & crew lead by J.J. & Kathy. I'll miss everyone but I'm glad to know that we've been making something exceptional together, to share with the waiting world.”

The film began shooting in August 2018, with all details firmly under wraps. However, we do know that Mark Hamill will be back alongside the original Lando Calrissian, Billy Dee Williams. Plus, it’ll wrap up General Leia’s story using previously unused footage originally shot for The Force Awakens. “There’s a lot of minutes of footage. I don’t mean just outtakes,” Carrie Fisher’s brother Todd said. “This is unused, new content that could be woven into the storyline. That’s what’s going to give everybody such a great kick. It’s going to look like it was meant to be. Like it was shot yesterday.”

Also joining the cast for this time around are Richard E. Grant, Dominic Monaghan, Matt Smith, Naomi Ackie, and Keri Russell.
