Though JJ Abrams has been keeping any real details on his **Star Trek **sequel under his a cloaking device, we are starting to find out one or two things. Late last week, Trek Movie broke word that Abrams had decided on a title and Paramount registering domain names confirmed the news. So we have a title: **Star Trek Into Darkness.
Yes, apparently that’s sans colon and without a numeral in the title either (after all, does any film want to face comparisons with the majesty that is Wrath Of Khan?)
So why no colon? At San Diego Comic-Con, Damon Lindelof explained the Abrams’ camp’s problems with colons and subtitles, saying, “There's no word that comes after the colon after Star Trek that's cool,” Lindelof told MTV. “Not that Star Trek: Insurrection or **First Contact **aren't good titles, it's just that everything that people are turned off about when it comes to Trek is represented by the colon.”
As for what the title actually means, we’re going to have to wait to discover that. But it certainly seems to point to a moodier, doomier affair this time around.
What say you lot? Do you like the new title? You know where to open hailing frequencies to transmit your opinion.
