Though each new announcement about new televisual Trek show Star Trek: Discovery has us wondering when it'll actually arrive on screens, at least work appears to be happening apace on the series itself. Three new actors have been added to the cast, with Maulik Pancholy, Terry Serpico and Sam Vartholomeos signing up to appear.

The show will focus on a few lead characters, including Sonequa Martin-Green as Lieutenant Commander Rainsford, the first officer aboard the Discovery itself, Michelle Yeoh's Captain Georgiou, commanding officer of the Starfleet vessel Shenzhou, plus Doug Jones as Lt. Saru, Anthony Rapp as Lt. Stamets, Klingons Chris Obi, Shazad Latif and Mary Chieffo and most recently, James Frain as iconic Trek character Sarek.

The new recruits are all Starfleet types, with Pancholy playing the Shenzhou's medical officer Dr. Nambue, Serpico as Admiral Anderson and Vartholomeos nabbing the role of Ensign Connor, serving under Captain Georgiou.

Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts are running the show, having taken over for the departing Bryan Fuller and the new launch date for the series has yet to be announced. Star Trek: Discovery will air one episode on US network CBS in the States before moving to the All Access app. In the UK, we'll be watching episodes via Netflix.
