If you're a Star Trek aficionado you'll know that yesterday was First Contact Day: April 5 marks the date Zefram Cochrane first met a Vulcan in 2063. To celebrate the occasion, Star Trek Beyond director Justin Lin posted a new picture from the set, of himself flanked by two unspecified aliens. Check it out below.

That one on the left looks a lot like a Jem'Hadar to us (Deep Space Nine's bioengineered race of drug-addicted super-warriors), but maybe loads of aliens have jawline teeth.

Who's under the make-up? Ah, well that's the question. Lin made a competition of it, promising t-shirts and posters to anyone who can guess correctly. His only clues were that they've not yet been announced and he's worked with them both before. Popular suggestions so far have ranged from Fast & Furious alumni Chris Bridges and Tyrese Gibson (both of whom were spotted visiting the set a while ago), to Community's Danny Pudi and bodybuilder Kim Kold (who was in F&F6). We'll update with the answer when Lin reveals it.

The film finds Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) and the crew out on their five-year mission to explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and yada yada, you likely know the rest. But in this instance, they discover that not everyone is sold on the ways of the Federation, and soon the crew are stranded on a forbidding planet with no ship and little hope of rescue...

With Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg (who wrote the shooting script with Doug Jung), Idris Elba and Sofia Boutella in the cast, director Lin is keeping Star Trek Beyond on track for a July 22 release here and in the US.
