A Star Is Born

It might not have swept the Oscars as some predicted last year, but A Star Is Born remains a stellar first film from Bradley Cooper – a bold and sweeping reinvention of the oft-told tale of artistry and tragedy, with a host of brilliant songs at its core. And if you’re one of those fans who have had the soundtrack on repeat for months on end – from ‘Black Eyes’ right through to ‘I’ll Never Love Again’ – you’re in luck. A new, extended cut of the film is arriving, an ‘Encore’ edition featuring 12 minutes of new footage, and more importantly, extra music.

The new version will include Lady Gaga’s Ally and Bradley Cooper’s Jackson Maine writing a new song ‘Clover’, as well as extra footage of Ally singing ‘Shallow’ a capella, Jackson singing ‘Too Far Gone’ in the studio, Ally singing ‘Is That Alright?’ to Jackson in – SPOILER ALERT – their wedding sequence, and more of Jackson’s stomping rock hits ‘Black Eyes’ and ‘Alibi’. The new cut of the film clocks in at 147 minutes.

Now, it remains to be seen when we’ll see this new cut of the film in the UK – its US release is imminent, hitting 1,150 cinemas Stateside on Friday for a one-week run. Stay tuned for more on whether us Brits can see the extended cut on the big screen, or if an extended home release will be on the cards.
