With multiple stories to populate, the cast of Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame To Kill For just keeps getting bigger, and the (physically) biggest character of all has just been revealed. Stacy Keach will be filling the massive shoes of the Sin City mob leader Herr Wallenquist.
Wallenquist, aka "The Kraut" in the comics, heads up organised crime enterprise The Wallenquist Organisation, which makes its dodgy money through anything from drug smuggling to organ farming. One of Miller's trademark rock-solid behemoths, he's bigger even than Marv, and more along the lines of The Kingpin. He also possesses a cool business brain however, and is one of the only men in the city able to resist the seductive charms of Ava Lord, the Dame of the title.
Keach, of course, is no stranger to playing tough guys or turning up in genre movies, but we're thinking there's one particular role that makes him especially appropriate for Sin City: he's most famous for playing Mike Hammer, the hard-boiled gumshoe from the Mickey Spillane novels, on TV in the '80s and '90s. Obviously he's on the other side of the law here, but some of that pulp-noir cred can't go amiss.
Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is currently in production, starring Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Josh Brolin, Juno Temple, Jessica Alba, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jamie Chung, Jeremy Piven, Rosario Dawson, Ray Liotta, Michael Madsen, Powers Booth, Clive Owen... The list goes on, and is topped by Eva Green as Ava, coming straight off the similarly Miller-related green-screen 300: Rise Of An Empire. We're still waiting for an official UK release date, but it's out in the US on October 4.
