Spike Lee’s Big Game

Spike Lee's basketball drama He Got Game, which deals with an ex-con's relationship with his basketball-star son, topped the box-office charts on its release in America this weekend. No doubt this was helped by the furore which broke out last week following Denzel Washington's "inter-racial" snogging scene with Milla Jovovich. Neither Jovovich or Washington himself saw it as a big deal, but many black spokespersons complained that his scene was "selling out". That's the Land of the Free for you.
