For a film that has not yet started shooting, Spielberg's movie about the aftermath of the 1972 Munich Olympic hostage drama has received a lot of attention. The fact that the subject matter deals with Israeli-Palestinian tensions would probably be enough to label it "controversial", but the fact that shooting has now been delayed for the script to be re-written is likely to land it a "troubled" tag as well. The film, which was previously called Vengeance but is now back to "Untitled" Olympic terror tale, was originally due to be filmed last spring and released this autumn. However, when Spielberg decided to do reshoots on The Terminal the start date for filming was pushed back to this month. Rumour had it last week that filming was delayed due to security concerns, but it now appears that the delay was due to Spielberg's unhappiness with the script. Now the film is expected to begin shooting this time next year. But it's not all bad news. Screenwriter Tony Kushner will be handling the rewrite. He's the man behind Angels In America, the star-studded HBO mini-series that swept up every TV award going last year, so let's hope he's the man to polish this script to a gleaming shine.
