If you quite enjoy apocalypse TV but find zombies a bit disturbing, thus finding that The Walking Dead doesn't quite meet your needs, it looks like next summer's Falling Skies may be the show for you. Executive produced by Steven Spielberg, written by Saving Private Ryan's Robert Dodat and directed by Carl Franklin, this has scary aliens, big spaceships and a bit to make you jump out of your skin. Win!

The show has Noah "John Carter" Wyle as a former college professor trying to keep a group of civilians and soldiers safe during a full-on alien invasion. Moon Bloodgood plays a therapist trying to keep the children of the group sane amid the terror and chaos, and Armageddon's Will Patton plays a general of the human resistance.

So far? Looks interesting to us: lots of alien monsters, a fair bit of waving guns around and an authentically Spielbergian focus on broken families and father/son relationships. Therefore, we welcome our new alien overlords; come on down and bring it on.
