Latest setback for Spider-Man production

A reward of $25,000 has been offered for the return of four Spider-Man suits, stolen from the Los Angeles set of the movie yesterday (4 April 2001). A spokesperson for Sony told the press that the loss of the costumes would not delay filming as the costume department had a number of replacement suits. It was estimated that around six costumes had been created in the first instance because of the likelihood of damage to the fragile suits - especially during stunt sequences. The theft is the latest incident to happen to the Spider-Man production. A stunt-double for lead actor Tobey Maguire broke his leg earlier this week, while a welder working on set production last month was killed when he was hit by a crane.
