Spiderman a Two Horse Race

With James Cameron off the Spiderman project, a host of other directors including Tim Burton, Sam Raimi, David Fincher, Chris Columbus and Brad Silbering (City of Angels) were among the numerous contenders being considered to take the helm. Current reports are that Columbia Pictures and Marvel Comics have whittled the candidate list down to just two - Sam Raimi and David Fincher, with Raimi being favored over Fincher by a smidge due to his previous experience bringing a comic book character to the big screen with Darkman. No word yet on who will actually play the arachnid superhero.
