Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse earned plenty of praise back in 2018, mostly because it was excellent: vivid, exciting, emotional and clever. A sequel was officially announced back in 2019, and while we still have to wait until 2022 to see it, the film's official twitter account has teased one thing we can expect, and it hints at more of Miguel O'Hara, AKA Spider-Man 2099.

Voiced by Oscar Isaac in a brief end credits sting (from which the pictures used here are taken), O'Hara is a a geneticist living in future New York whose attempts to recreate Spider-Man's abilities leads to his own DNA fusing with the teenager web-slinger's DNA. While this is not actually a new image of the character, the tweet suggests he'll play a bigger role in the follow-up, alongside, we have to figure, other Spider-characters from across the multiverse.

Isaac is not confirmed as returning the voice the character, but given his contribution last time, it's not a stretch to think he'll be back for more. Shameik Moore is certainly returning as Miles Morales, while Joaquim Dos Santos is in the director's chair, and Phil Lord and Chris Miller are once again producing. The latter has also teased that we can expect more groundbreaking visuals...

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse 2 (assuming it doesn't announce another title will be out on 7 October, 2022).
