Kevin Spacey may have just finished treading the boards on Broadway, but it seems not even the daily drain of a major theatre production can stop Bryan Singer making sure his Lex Luthor is happy to once again face Krypton’s first son. Variety are reporting that Singer recently spoke with Spacey, and confirmed his villainous reprisal, as his run in Eugene O’Neill’s Moon For The Misbegotten was coming to an end.
The sequel to last year’s Superman Returns – tentatively titled Superman: The Man Of Steel – is due for release in 2009 and is et to start shooting sometime next year. Meanwhile, Singer is currently taking Tom Cruise into the heart of Hitler’s Germany as he continues work on the WW2 flick Valkyrie, while Spacey is now filming British ensemble film Telstar on the streets of London. Although the cast for the second (or should that be third..or sixth) coming of America's most revered superhero has yet to be officially announced, Brandon Routh (pants, Brylcreem, flying) and Kate Bosworth (glasses, pen, reporting) will no doubt return as Supes and Lois Lane respectively. Which other characters would you like to see make an appearance in Kal-El’s next big screen adventure? It goes without saying that any suggestions of Nuclear Man will not be taken seriously as he was completely and utterly silly.
