Source Code Trailer Arrives

Moon director Duncan Jones has been promising the world that we’ll get a proper look at his next film, tricky sci-fi thriller Source Code, for a while now. And today that promise comes true – the trailer has arrived online over at Apple.

Jake Gyllenhaal is Colter Stevens, a military man having a very bad day. The same very bad day, in fact, over and over again. See, thanks to some extremely high tech computer programming (the source code of the title), he’s jumping into the identity of a train commuter named Sean Fentress. To make matters worse, he arrives at the last eight minutes of Fentress’ life, as a bomber blows up the train, resulting in an uncomfortable snap back into Colter’s own personality.

His mission is to find out who the bomber is, and report that to the people running the computer system (including Jeffrey Wright and Vera Farmiga) in the hopes that they can stop an attack planned for the future. But then there’s an extra wrinkle – Colter falls for fetching fellow passenger Christina (Michelle Monaghan), who has her own links to Sean, and decides that maybe he can save the day instead of just collecting intel…

What could be the basis for a cheap B-movie sci-fi romp (or a big screen version of Quantum Leap) certainly looks like it’ll tackle more than just the high concept. Given that it’s in the capable hands of Jones, and with that cast attached, we’re definitely up for the ride.

Take a look at the trailer and let us know what you think. Source Code is out on March 11.
