While the big boys of the current superhero movie trend are still making waves with trailers and such, the passion for raiding the comic book shelves shows no sign of letting up. So it is over at Sony, which has just locked in a deal for the rights to Valiant Comics Bloodshot series.
Bloodshot, which first hit shelves via Valiant in 1992, follows Angelo Mortalli, a former mob hit man double-crossed by the family and framed for murder. Taken into witness protection, he’s betrayed again, this time by the FBI agent who was assigned to guard him, and kidnapped as part of a secret government program. His mind is wiped clean (so they think) and he’s infused with nanites to turn him into a super soldier with inhuman strength and healing ability.
Of course, something goes a bit wrong and he escapes. With just fragments of his memories remaining, he goes looking for those who wronged him and tries to figure out exactly who he is…
Back in 2010, Matthew Vaughn was rumoured to be interested in taking the project on as a possible follow-up to Kick-Ass. But while that never happened, producer Neal Moritz (the man behind the Fast & Furious franchise, who always seems to have a gazillion projects on the go) is now in charge of it. He’s hired **Cry_Wolf **writer-director Jeff Wadlow to take the first crack at the script.
