Someone wants to make a young Three Stooges movie

Three Stooges (original)

Last October, there was a ping on the news radar from the Three Stooges front, with rights holders C3 Entertainment announcing a sequel starring Sean Hayes, Will Sasso and Chris Diamantopoulos. While that's seemingly yukking it up in development, the company has gone ahead and started work on another film, about the Stooges' younger days.

Not strictly an origin story, this will instead feature 12-year-old versions of the characters, which C3 and writer/director Harris Goldberg (Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo) are hoping will spawn a new, separate franchise. Little is known about the plot, though you can expect the usual physical Stooges nonsense.

A casting search is now underway to find the kids to fill the roles and the movie should be shooting this summer in Vancouver. “We are very excited to launch the all new Three Little Stooges for Three Stooges fans to enjoy," says C3 boss Earl Benjamin. "This new version of Larry, Moe and Curly will entertain family members of all ages. Current fans and new fans will all laugh and enjoy the comedy antics of these little knuckleheads." Can it succeed where the 2012 version failed to light up the box office (sequel status not withstanding)? Tough to say at this point.

But if this has you scratching your head and wondering "the Three who?" take a look at our dive into the tragic and twisted tale of the original Stooges.
