The Farrelly brothers are still in the process of finalising the actors to play The Three Stooges in their new film. While they have Will Sasso as Curly and Sean Hayes just signed on to play Larry, they’re still without a Moe. But they have at least narrowed down the field of who will play one of the female leads, with Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara now in talks to jump aboard.
Stooges will see the Farrellys presenting a film broken up into three 27-minute segments of family friendly (i.e. PG-rated) comedy that will put the focus on the characters’ trademark physical comedy.
Vergara is looking to play a femme fatale who claims to be the wife of a dying man and aims to seduce the trio into offing him so she can pocket his money.
While her role as Colombian trophy wife Gloria Delgado-Pritchett takes up a lot of her schedule these days, Vergara’s still found the time to fit in some film roles, including work on a couple of Tyler Perry movies, The Smurfs and voice work on Happy Feet 2. Plus she’ll appear in ensemble romantic comedy New Year’s Eve.
**The Three Stooges **will arrive sometime next year.
