The Social Network Poster Appears

With all the issues over privacy and those truly annoying invites to play Mafia Wars or help with Farmville crops, Facebook is one of those fads that looks like it’s on the wane a little. But the story of the people who created it, and how the success poisoned their friendships, is still one we’re interested to see. Particularly as the result –** The Social Network** – boasts David Fincher in the director’s chair, working from a script by Aaron Sorkin. And now there’s a nicely creative poster for the movie.

The official site for the film (spotted via The Playlist) has launched, and for now is just the image you see below and a request to (surprise!) join the movie’s Facebook page. But that’s a nice twist on the usual use of heads in posters, matched by the Facebook-style bar at the side.

With Jessie Eisenberg, Justin Timberlake and Andrew Garfield starring as co-founders Mark Zuckerberg, Sean Parker and Eduardo Saverin respectively, the movie uses Ben Mezrich’s book The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, A Tale of Sex, Money, Genius, and Betrayal to chronicle the festering issues that drove the original trio to the heights of success and the depths of jealousy and greed. But there's room for comedy, too; this won’t be an overwrought drama

Now, of course, what we really want to see is a trailer.

The Social Network arrives in cinemas on October 15.
