We’ve been intrigued by The Host (the monster movie, not the maligned Stephenie Meyer adaptation) director Bong Joon-ho’s new sci-fi dystopia Snowpiercer. He found a great idea, gathered a solid cast and began shooting last year. Now, finally, we’re getting a look at the movie via some viral marketing aimed at Korean audiences. Check out the “passports” for the various actors and their characters below.
Snowpiercer, adapted from Benjamin Legrand and Jacques Lob’s graphic novel by the director, is set in a world that has been all but destroyed by a catastrophic attempt to curtail global warming. With almost the entire surface a frozen wasteland, the remaining human survivors are crowded on to the titular train, trying to survive.
But despite the desperate situation, class divisions on the train are threatening a revolution, and the fallout might shatter what remains of humanity.
The pics give the film a pleasingly grimy, haunted look and it’s hard to argue with a cast that includes Tilda Swinton, Chris Evans, John Hurt, Octavia Spencer, Ewen Bremner, Jamie Bell and Kang-ho Song.
There’s no sign of a release date for the movie yet, but we’re hoping it finds a UK distributor soon. And a trailer would be nice…
