For much of his screen appearances, even in the 1980s cartoons, G.I. Joe-affiliated ninja Snake Eyes has been a man of mystery. Now, Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins promises to peel back some of the layers to explore how he became the silent warrior, with Henry Golding in the starring role. An action-packed new trailer is online and you can find it right here...

In the new movie, we're introduced to Snake Eyes as a tenacious loner who is welcomed into an ancient Japanese clan called the Arashikage after saving the life of their heir apparent. Upon arrival in Japan, the Arashikage teach Snake Eyes the ways of the ninja warrior while also providing something he’s been longing for: a home. But, when secrets from his past are revealed, Snake Eyes’ honor and allegiance will be tested — even if that means losing the trust of those closest to him...

The Raid's Iko Uwais is Hard Master, who trains both Snake Eyes and Andrew Koji's Storm Shadow, while the cast also includes Samara Weaving as Scarlett and Úrsula Corberó as The Baroness.

With Robert Schwentke in the director's chair, Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins will land in US cinemas on 23 July and is due in the UK on 18 August.
