It'll be too late to hit the anniversary of his seminal, star-spangled appearance at Woodstock, but Legendary Pictures are hoping to get a Jimi Hendrix biopic up and running, according to Variety's second 60s rock-themed story of the morning.
Legendary's production roster includes Superman Returns, The Dark Knight, Watchmen and Clash of the Titans. So Hendrix, who started out stealing cars, got thrown out of the Airforce for being useless and insubordinate, and became the most awesome rock star in the world before mysteriously dying at the age of 27, would be a different kind of hero for them.
Head honcho Thomas Tull hopes to develop the project first, and then gain the all-important cooperation of the Hendrix estate, whose recalcitrance has stalled similar projects in the past. Max Borenstein is writing the script that will need the official stamp of approval. No pressure, then.
