Screenwriter John August, the man who brought us both of the Charlie’s Angels movies (but also Go, Big Fish and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, so cut him some slack) has been hired to re-write Touchstone’s comedy Bob The Musical.

The previously announced film sees the mild-mannered central character getting a whack to the noggin. Before long – shades of What Women Want here – he can hear people’s “inner song”. Cue the music, with South Park composing genius Marc Shaiman working on the tunes.

There’s no director or cast attached yet, though Mike “The Upside Of Anger” Bender wrote the first draft of the script.
