While we're not sure anything of financial or other importance should be in the hands of slackerjacks Tim Bisley and Mike Watt, we're happy to see that the men behind them – Mr. Simon John Pegg and Mr. Nicholas John Frost – are starting their own production company called Stolen Picture. And the new outfit will kick things off with a comedy action horror movie called Slaughterhouse Rulez.
It feels somehow right given the pair's background and the successful movies they've worked on in the past. But while they're usually the ones in front of the camera, for Slaughterhouse they appear to be staying strictly producers (though cameos may be a possibility).
A Fantastic Fear Of Everything's Crispian Mills is directing this one, from a script he wrote with Henry Fitzherbert. Our hero for the movie is Don Wallace, a lad from a modest background who must somehow navigate the tricky halls of Slaughterhouse, an elite boarding school where young men and women are groomed for power. With sadistic sixth formers enforcing tough rules and arcane rituals, status is strictly observed.
Until, that is, a controversial fracking operation on school grounds unearths an unspeakable horror and the pecking order must be put aside as pupils, teachers and the school matron face a bloody battle to survive.
Sony Pictures is backing the film, which will likely shoot this year as part of the new production company's aim to develop various film and TV projects. How's that for a fresh slice of fried gold?
